Giro d’Italia Stage 2 Results

Alessandro Petacchi stamped his experience all over Cavendish’s youth in today’s second stage of the Giro d’Italia. By Cav’s own addmision, he was “lazy”. The Aussies were well represented with Allan Davis running 4th, and Mick Rogers staying out of trouble.

Tom Boonen Out of 2009 Tour de France

Holy Mac! Tom Boonen is not riding this year’s Tour de France, banished after his second positive test for cocaine. The matter is not a performance enhancing issue, as the test was “out of competition”, but there are criminal implications as the drug is an illegal substance under Belgium law.

Holy Mac! Tom Boonen has been officially stood down by his Quickstep team. Boonen is “suspension from all competitive activity effective immediately.”
