HOLYmac! Mashable are reporting fake news about real-fake Twitter accounts. Meanwhile Twitter's real response is the introduction Verified Accounts. Confused..? Read on

The recent Twitter V’s some Baseball dude battle has seen the introduction of Twitter Verified Accounts. This was bound to happen, and Twitter’s judgement-to-date has been pretty good. So I really hope they remember ….

That some “fake accounts” are actually in good humour and welcomed by the real namesake

Being a “public official, public agency, famous artist, athlete, and other well known individual”, does not entitle that person to their name on Twitter: they SHOULD NOT have precedent over “everyday people” who have exactly the same name. For example: there’s no doubt more than 1 Steve Jobs on the planet. So if Everyday Steve Jobs has a Twitter account, and is NOT trying to impersinate Apple Steve Jobs, there is no issue.

Verifying a Real v’s Fake account needs much more consideration than checking the web address linked in the user profile. I’m not sure that’s good advice by Twitter, on several fronts.

I was surprised and sceptical when reading yesterday’s news reporting Twitter had settled the lawsuit. The report was wrong. It seems Mashable’s news (and several other sources) was as fake as the account they were reporting on.

Are you having troubles getting your Twitter background image to save..? So was I. But then I discovered this Quick Twitter Tip.

Twitter are having some major issues right now. Alot of Users can’t update their profiles, and alot more can’t get their background image to save/upload/stick. If you’re one of them, try this Quick Twitter Tip that has worked for several accounts I’ve been having problems with.

Go to: Settings > Design > Change background image

Choose your new background image file, but don’t press “Save Changes” (yet)

Swap over to the “Change design colors” tab

Make a change to one of the design settings (even if it’s just retyping the same colour code in the box)

Then click “Save changes” from the Design Settings page

Strange I know. But this has proved successful on at least 5 accounts that are effected by the Twitter BackGround Bug.
